REAL WEDDING: RICO + LYZA
We consider every wedding that we become a part of, a learning experience. We do not shy from any opportunity to learn new things and Rico & Lyza's wedding was one that's definitely taught us a lot. This was our second time to do a wedding in the Islamic rite and we were excited about how some of our (styling) dreams finally became true: the use of banners and flags, for instance, which we didn't get to do with the first.
We have to give it to Lyza's Mom and her team who did the sewing and bead work; you have to see the couple's umbrellas, the fabric used for the altar, and other back-breaking beading details! I think the spirit of cooperation of the families was too infectious that we got caught up in the feverish preparations leading to the event day itself. The day before the wedding, we were already digging holes for the bamboo poles and hanging the banners from the Glass Pavilion's balcony. It was festive, to say the least!
But more than the cultural aspect, the best part about this wedding is the celebration of the Islamic religion itself. More than the customs and traditions, the nikah (solemnization of vows) was about sealing the 'union' of the two families, and celebrating the love of the couple for each other. We're happy to have been a witness to this very solemn & dignified occasion.
Rico & Lyza, thank you for entrusting your event to The Mango Farm and to Vatel Manila. We share in your happiness and we wish you both all the best. :-)
