While going through Mel & Joanne's wedding blog, I realized that there was one supplier that I've actually worked with - THRICE! - without my realizing it. It's not that I hardly care about music and musicians. Au contraire, I do take time to listen to musicians because I want to be 100% sure about their performance quality before I even refer them to my clients. And then it hit me, how come I haven't featured Allan Gonzales before when he was the musician in this, this and probably this wedding (although I seriously doubt he was in the latter; it must have been during the Tiglao-Concio wedding)!
Allan suffered from congenital retinoblastoma (bilateral), but that did not stop him from pursuing a career in music - both on the piano and vocals. He also is currently training a choir in a church in Tondo. The church is said to have been instrumental in giving strength, hope and joy not only to him but to his family as well.
His voice has a full quality and a palpable sense of confidence not found in most young singers today. I hope he gets more bookings, really. You have to give it to the guy for his courage, determination and sheer talent.
